Ingredients :
- • 500g Sarson Ke Patte (Mustard Leaves)
- • 250g Palak (Spinach – optional, but tastes better)
- • 100g Bathua (Chenopodium – optional)
- • 2-3 Green Chilies ( Hari Mirch)
- • 1 Tukda of Ginger (2-inch piece of Ginger)
- • 5-6 Garlic Cloves (Garlic Cloves – optional, according to taste)
- • 1 Small spoon os salt
- • 1 Cup of Water (Water as needed)
- For tadka ( tempering) :
- • 2 Large Spoons Desi Ghee
- • 1 Onion (Onion – Finely Chopped)
- • 4-5 Garlic (Garlic – Finely Chopped)
- • 1 Ginger (Grated or Finely Chopped)
- • 1 Tomato (Tomato – Finely Chopped)
- • 1 Small Spoon Turmeric (Turmeric Powder)
- • 1 Small Spoon Red Pepper Powder (Red Chili Powder)
- • 1 Small Spoon Dhaniya Powder (Coriander Powder)
- • 1 Small Spoon Garam Masala
- • Butter (Butter – For Garnishing)
Method :
Step- 1 :washing of all leaves
In this step we will wash all the leaves with water at least 2-3 times so that all the dirt and soil is removed and then finally wash these leaves with warm water. After washing we will chop all these leaves thoroughly.
Step -2:cooking process
Now we will take a pot and put all the green leaves in it and also add finely chopped green chillies, then add ginger, garlic, salt and water, close the pot and leave it to cook on medium flame. We will keep stirring in the middle so that the vegetables do not burn. When the water of the vegetables gets cooked, turn off the gas.
Step-3 : Preparation of Tadka
Now take a pan and add oil or ghee in it, then add chopped onion, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and chopped ginger garlic and fry it well. Then add finely chopped tomatoes in it and fry it well. When the tomatoes become soft, add the cooked vegetables and fry it well for 5-7 minutes on medium to low flame.
Step -4 :serve
Now our sarson ka saag is ready, so now we will serve it by adding some desi ghee to it, with corn roti or rice, whichever you like, serve it and enjoy this traditional and authentic sarson ka saag recipe.
